Straighten out your closet and help others, all at the same timeBaby steps, a little goes a long way
Purge your wardrobe a little at a time. You might think that purging is a huge undertaking and will take you all day, but it makes sense to do a little at a time. Keep a Salvation Army donation bag in your closet or bedroom and add to it as you find items that no longer fit, or are wearing out.
“If the glove doesn’t fit…” you can’t wear it
It really doesn’t make sense to keep an article of clothing that doesn’t fit you anymore. Place it in a pile to donate and think about how much the next person is going to love it.
Plus one, minus one
Did you buy a great new blouse? Wonderful! You should only put them in the closet after you’ve removed a blouse that you no longer wear. It makes sense to subtract one item of clothing for every new item that you buy. If you come home from a day of shopping with 3 new items, take some time to go through your closet and remove 3 items that you no longer wear.
Giving is caring
It’s amazing how big the market is for used clothing. Even if you think that no one wants your castaways, think again. Not only does your used clothing provide jobs, but some things like single socks or worn out jeans can be recycled.
